The Hon Mark Vaile MP
Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and Minister for Transport and
Regional Services
Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile understands the daily struggles of working families in regional Australia having begun his working life as a jackeroo at Jemalong Station near Forbes before moving home to Taree on the Mid-North Coast of NSW to marry Wendy and raise his three daughters.
The son of the local pharmacist, Mark completed his HSC at Taree High School, and further educated himself through the TAFE system. He has also worked as a farm machinery salesman before going on to own a successful Stock and Station and Real Estate Agency business in Taree.
Mark Vaile put up his hand to run for The Nationals in the electorate of Lyne because he wants to see regional Australia get its fair share of the nation’s prosperity and to get a better deal for small business and exporters who create the jobs in regional areas. Now as Leader of The Nationals he is delivering with new programs like the $200m Growing Regions plan and the visionary $22.3 billion AusLink II National road and rail plan.
Mark has represented his community on his local council, tourist association and chamber of commerce and now in Federal Parliament. And he has represented Australia as Minister for Agriculture, Minister for Trade and now as Minister for Transport and Regional Services for a second time.
He has led initiatives that have grown Australia’s exports around the world and boosted jobs in regional Australia. He believes strongly in standing by farmers during times of drought to keep food prices affordable and to keep the character of the bush alive.
Into the future, Mark Vaile is committed to ensuring the 7.5 million Australians who live outside our capital cities get the services they have a right to expect.
