Safeskies Background and History
Safeskies genesis was held in 1992 when the Canberra section of the Chartered Institute of Transport, proposed a transport safety seminar.
Financial support was provided by the Civil Aviation Authority.
Early support also came from Qantas, the RAAF, the Royal Federation of Aero Clubs of Australia and the Bureau of Air Safety Investigation.
The first conference in 1993 was judged highly successful, and the biennial event has grown strongly over the ensuing 14 years.
Mr G A (Peter) Lloyd joined in 1997 and has been the Conference Chairman ever since.
